BUILT TO BE RECYCLED

Our sustainable 360°booth concept at interzum 2023

#KEEPONGROWING

Under the slogan of #KEEPONGROWING, we made a strong statement at our sustainable trade fair booth at interzum 2023. Everything that you see, feel and taste at our trade fair booth comes from sustainable sources and will be reused or recycled after the trade fair. This way, we conserve resources, avoid waste and make an important contribution to preserving our environment.

Exhibits and props

As part of the sustainable concept development of the interzum trade fair booth, all exhibits and props (chairs, tables, etc.) are in-house designs made from natural pine plywood. After the fair, all the parts were reused in-house or by our partners for presentation purposes. Elements like counter systems, lounge and office components from the subsidiary Mauser, as well as props and decorative items, were recycled.

Construction materials and recyclables

Construction materials that are as natural as possible, in the same material as flooring and wall materials, were used in prototype construction, for logistical purposes, as shipping boxes and for the planned co-working space at the Beverungen development location. Further construction parts were passed on to Trash Galore and supplied to social projects. Technical components and devices were sourced from a local rental service, where they are reused.

Food and drink

At the interzum trade fair booth of VAUTH-SAGEL, plates were filled solely with freshly prepared seasonal and local organic products. To round out the visitor experience, traditional dishes featuring game we have hunted were served. Our catering was sustainable: equipped with tableware and fabric napkins or compostable bowls and napkins that were supplied to recycling via the proven VAUTH-SAGEL waste separation systems.

Travel and accommodation

The booth crew travelled sustainably via public transport, to avoid individual car journeys as much as possible. We booked hotels that are connected to the trade fair by foot or via public transport so that even shuttle services were not needed.

Plant for the planet

Vauth-Sagel’s commitment to the global initiative “Plant for the Planet” is unwavering: for every trade fair visitor, Vauth-Sagel plants a tree, making its clear commitment to sustainability visible. The initiative started in 2021 has already planted more than 10,000 trees.

Vauth-Sagel’s focus is on people and their desire for resource-efficient management, action and growth as partners, customers and users.

RECYCLING

What happened to the booth after the trade fair?

Directly after the trade fair, it was time to dismantle the booth. Together with our trade fair partners, conform and Trash Galore, it took two days to dismantle the 800-square-metre trade fair, from which 9,041.25 kilograms of material were recycled. The CO2 saving: around 3,912.44 kilograms – that’s equivalent to 31 flights from Munich to Berlin. To keep the CO2 emissions of transporting the materials as low as possible, the distance was limited to the strictly necessary. Three of the four initiatives are located less than 10 kilometres from the Cologne Fair.

conform GmbH

conform is a sustainably certified trade fair construction company with a forward-looking mindset and socially responsible approach. As a founding member of the FAMAB Foundation for the protection of the climate and environment, conform is dedicated to reducing CO2 emissions in its industry.

Trash Galore

In cooperation with Trash Galore and conform GmbH, we were able to save 9,041.25 kilograms of material from being thrown away.

Social dimension of collaboration

With the donation of used materials to organisations in need of them, projects can receive much-needed support. By donating these materials, we support culture and creatives, help them to effectively implement their projects, and increase their value and visibility in society. In addition, the use of used materials fosters creativity. Seeing examples of reuse and recycling helps people to translate and further develop their awareness of the need for an ecological transformation into clear, practical habits.
